The Garden of Remembrance at Saint George's stands as a witness to the Christian belief in the Resurrection of our
Lord Jesus Christ, and to our assurance that we share in that Resurrection to eternal life. The ashes of those who have died in the Faith may be interred in this beautiful, peaceful and hallowed place that relatives and friends may visit
for quiet recollection.
Where a funeral is held with a subsequent cremation, the ashes are returned to the church for a brief interment service at a later time. If the cremation precedes a
Memorial Service, the ashes are interred as part of that service or at a later date. The Prayer Book service is used.
Ashes are interred rather than scattered. The Garden is a common grave, and individual ashes
are not recoverable. The Garden is not a cemetery, and personal memorials or plaques are not accepted.
Relatives may have brief details of the
life of the deceased recorded in a Book of Memory which is kept in the church.
To enquire about the interment of ashes please contact the Church office.
